Uncle Ray recalls having a copy of a deed for a lot whereby Nicholas bought a lot in New Boston 1866, for $35.00. I have not found that deed among papers Uncle Ray shared. It should be easy to get another copy.It is presumed since Nicholas was a carpenter, it was on this lot he built his house.Nicholas' son J.L. was partners in a general store until he opened his own at a corner of the main crossroads in Owensville. Aunt "Lizzie" and Aunt Mary Jane "helped out" in the store until they opened their own Milinary store at their house just down the street. Brother Joseph lived with them and in his last years, Nicholas lived there too. Father Arnold tells of having to go get Grandpa on one of his rambles around town.Father A. was about 13 when Nicolas died at age 88. The dear Favret homestead still stands in all her beauty. Jim and I stopped to take pictures and the insurance agent who has the house now came by and invited us in. He showed where some changes had been and then undone. It seems very much as Jim remembered as a boy. The store has been razed.
