He married Mary Marcella Hurlburt 22 Nov 1872 in Franklin Co., Oh. (Mary Marcella Hurlburt is #69.) Mary was born 21 Jul 1853 in Franklin Co., Oh. Mary was the daughter of John Hurlburt and Arvilla Cockerell. Mary died 21 DEC 1936 in Worthington,Franklin Co.,Ohio, at age 83. When Mary was age 19 and Joseph Thomas McIlvaine was age 26 they became the parents of Arthur Cicero McIlvaine 30 Mar 1873 in Franklin Co., Oh. When Mary was age 21 and Joseph Thomas McIlvaine was age 28 they became the parents of Johney Burr McIlvaine 22 Dec 1874 in Franklin Co., Oh. When Mary was age 27 and Joseph Thomas McIlvaine was age 34 they became the parents of Clay Orville McIlvaine 27 Dec 1880 in Franklin Co., Oh. When Mary was age 32 and Joseph Thomas McIlvaine was age 38 they became the parents of Joseph Dwight McIlvaine 8 Oct 1885 in Franklin Co., Oh. 68 ii. Johney Burr McIlvaine (#71) was born in Franklin Co., Oh 22 Dec 1874. Johney died 25 May 1953 in Worthington,Franklin Co.,Ohio, at age 78. Uncle Burr and Artie (Grandpa) were sent off to College in the northen part of the state. (Hiram, I believe) They must not have found it to their liking for they left and hopped a freight train West. Where and for how long, I don't know but they would tell tales of their adventures. Uncle Burr went to work for the RR and while working coupling cars he lost 2 fingers. We were always intrigued by that hand. He m. Myrtle nee ?. They had no children.

69 iii. Clay Orville McIlvaine (#72) was born in Franklin Co., Oh 27 Dec 1880. Clay died 5 Mar 1938 in Columbus,Franklin Co.,Ohio, at age 57. 70 iv. Joseph Dwight McIlvaine (#73) was born in Franklin Co., Oh 8 Oct 1885. Joseph died 13 May 1966 in Worthington,Franklin Co.,Ohio, at age 80. Uncle Dwight m. Roxie Bryant. They had no ch.. He and Aunt Roxie ran a neighborhood bar in the flats area on W. Broad St. in Cols..I went there with Aunt Buke and Uncle Charlie a time or two. After they sold that, they lived with Grandma McIlvain in Flint since she was elderly. That put them right across the road from Grandpa Artie. Uncle Burr just lived down the road so the "boys" had some good ole times together. It was fun to listen to them. I remember how they'd help each other out at their homes or work projects. Uncle Burr came over in the early 40's, late 30's just after he'd gotten a new car and asked Artie "Would you drive this rig to Wurthenton for me ?" The car, the speed, the traffic scared him !!!!

71 v. Ernest Hadley McIlvaine (#74) was born in Franklin Co., Oh 19 Jun 1889. Ernest died 26 Oct 1964 at age 75. Uncle Hadley went West very young. I don't remember him living in Ohio. He m. Ellen Throne and had a son named Joseph. "The girls" visited them at times over the years and Uncle Hadley came East quite often. He had a very fine Chrysler dealership in Prescott, Ariz.. Son Joe took over that dealership. He and his wf. adopted 2 boys Joe who tried to follow his father in the business and Pat who became a Forestry Ranger. Jim and I visited Joe, Sr. in the 70's. He was continuing the business alone at that time.
